How did you get into the leather industry?

Peter finished his studies at the time of the global economic crisis in 2008. The place he was working laid people off, and he was unsuccessful in finding a position appropriate to his economics degree. In his opinion, the economist job market is full. He has been working for Eagle Ottawa since 2010.

How did he find the job opportunity?

The company advertises job vacancies continuously, mainly through online channels. He had a family connection as well, as his mother was also working for the company. This is his second job.

What are the expectations of the company?

It’s important that a workplace should be solid, predictable and it should provide favorable working conditions.

What is his working field in the leather industry?

Peter is a machine supervisor. He is responsible for setting the correct machinery parameters, to ensure the right amount of finish is coated on to the leather during production. It’s important to meet the customer’s requirements. Before this, he worked as an operator.

He has managed to master the new TopStar technology. He also had the opportunity to travel to other Eagle Ottawa locations (Mexico, China) in order to learn new technologies used for leather processing. Regarding his current role, he stated that he has few challenges but there are very few opportunities to be creative. When required, he works as part of a team. This allows processing defects to be spotted and potential errors to be prevented.
